Hi there! Thanks for stopping by my website. I’m Elisa, a freelance writer and editor born and bred in Southern California. Although I have 20 years of professional experience, my journey with words actually started much earlier. From childhood I loved to read and started collecting books, which is a habit I have yet to break—not that I want to!
My enthusiasm for the written word led to a Bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA. While attending university, I landed my first publishing job at 2.13.61 Publications, where I worked after school. After graduating, I moved on to the magazine world where I honed my skills as a writer and editor. Somewhere along the way, I also managed to earn a Master’s degree in English from CSULB.
In addition to writing, I’m passionate about animals, literature, history, architecture, preservation, music, the arts and health. When I’m not staring at a computer screen, I am researching local history, reading and running my boutique company, L.A. Woman Tours. I currently give tours on the topics of Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow, The Doors and rock ‘n roll in Los Angeles. My interest in Los Angeles history has led to help co-found the Los Angeles Tour Guides Association, the first organization devoted to providing high-quality resources to local tourism professionals. I’m also a devoted pet mom to a cat, Izzy, and a dog, Gidget.
